All the great things to do, on and around Lake Conjola.

¯
Conjola is an epic place for friends, kids and dogs alike

Located in the heart of Conjola National Park, there’s fishing, boating, water-skiing and safe swimming right at your doorstep, while the front verandah is perfect for reading the papers or grabbing an afternoon nap in the shade. Enjoying time well spent with family and good friends in the most beautiful setting on the south coast – that is the essence of The Lake House.

Surfing's legendary Green Island is only a kilometre away at Conjola Beach – also famous for its stunning white sand. While a vast array of world class surf breaks for all levels of surfers are within a short drive of the house - including Bendalong's epic Beach-breaks, Ulladulla Bombie and Golfcourse Reef, plus the jewel of the south coast - Australia's Pipeline.

Feed the wild birds from the verandah – Rosellas, Lorikeets, King Parrots, and a whole host of others, come in each day and demand food. The King Parrots will sit on your arm and feed.

Drive to the lake’s entrance (1km) and walk along the board walk to the surf beach, or stroll around the lake’s edge through the sand hills to view Green Island. Whales and dolphins are easily spotted from the beach and while whales tend to be a little more seasonal, the local pod of dolphins will cruise past daily. Washerwoman's Bay at Bendalong (15 minutes north) is famous for it's sting rays, which grace the shallows of the cove looking for fisherman's scraps.

If you can tear yourself away from The Lake House, the greater Shoalhaven area has much to offer. Go on a shopping spree in Milton (fantastic shopping girls – antiques, homewares, gourmet fare) eat out in one of the area’s many and varied cafes and restaurants. Play a round on one of two courses available in nearby Mollymook.

Climb nearby Pigeon House Mountain (allow all day), and revel in the 360 degree views from the top. Enjoy the Aboriginal Walk around the headland of Ulladulla, or “augment” the day’s fishing with a stop in at the Ulladulla Fish Co-op right on the harbour breakwall in Uladulla. While local wineries and art galleries are to be found north and south of the house to compliment your stay even further.

Exploring in the dunes of Conjola Beach

While feeding the kangaroos at the entrance each evening at dusk is fun, you can't go past Mogo Zoo for true animal experiences. Situated 15 minutes south of Bateman's Bay the zoo boasts a world-class collection of big cats, Australian native animals, reptiles and African primates. Mogo Zoo is simply an amazing place to visit and only an hours drive away.

How to get there

¯
Arguably one of Australia’s best kept holiday secrets, Lake Conjola is located within the Ulladulla region of the City of Shoalhaven, on the New South Wales south coast.

The Lake House is situated approximately three hours south of Sydney, via Wollongong and Nowra on the Princes Highway, and around two hours north-east of Canberra via the Kings Highway.

To reach The Lake House from Sydney, turn off the Princes Highway onto Lake Conjola Entrance Road (about 10km before Milton/Ulladulla). After approximately 5km turn left onto Evans Street. At the lake’s edge turn right onto Prior Street and continue to The Lake House.

At Conjola National Park there are just a handful of properties that enjoy elevated, uninterrupted lake views… The Lake House is one of them.

Average temperatures

¯
The Lake House has a favourable North East aspect with a steep hill sheltering it from the southerly winds. This means ample sunshine year round and in a southerly, little or no wind - perfect for a sunny winter's day.

Average summertime temperatures range from 15° to 26°c (59° - 79°F) while winters average around 6° to 20°c (43° - 68°F). However, it's not uncommon to have higher temperatures on the verandah, out of the cold southerly but in full sun.
